Štětí
The town of Štětí is situated on the right bank of the Labe River on the west edge of the Dubská Plateau. Among the most important features of the landscape are the proverbial Říp Mountain (459 meters a.s.l) only 10 km away, and close to the town the Špičák hills (280 m.a.s.l.) and Sovice (273 m.a.s.l.). The town is 50 km north of Prague and 15 km from Mělník.
Despite its industrial character, Štětí has very lovely surroundings and an unexpected range of interesting recreation-sports facilities. The town has a complex of stadiums for football, volleyball, handball and tennis, including an adjacent swimming pool.
The Labe River embankment boasts a good facility for canoeing, sailing and rowing. Less than two km from the town is a world jewel, the Račice manmade rowing channel, where several world championships have already taken place for rowing, canoeing and dragon ships. Fishermen will also enjoy the area. Another feature is a 5 km circuit for bikers and roller-skaters.
